EU citizens’ residence
Citizens of an EU Member State or of another State party to the EEA Agreement who intend to reside in Spain for a period exceeding three months are required to personally apply to the Foreigners’ Office of the province where they intend to stay or establish their residence, or, failing that, to the corresponding Police Station, for registration in the Central Register of Foreigners. This application must be submitted within three months of the date of entry into Spain, and a registration certificate will be issued immediately, stating the name, nationality, and address of the registered person, their Foreigner’s Identity Number, and the date of registration.
Once you have resided legally in Spain for a continuous period of five years, a certificate of the right to reside permanently will be issued at your request.
To carry out this application, it is necessary to provide the original valid passport or national identity document, 2 passport-type photographs, pay the corresponding fee, duly complete the application forms, and, depending on the professional situation of the applicant (unemployed, self-employed, employed, rentier or retired) other essential and specific documentation will be specified for each case.
